5G launched in the US 18 months ago and we are still waiting for the “killer app” to appear. Unlike previous Gs, 5G does not address a pre-existing need but rather is positioned for future developments. As such, it needs to be considered less as a “solution” and more as one component in future, yet to be built, services. This will inevitably mean that, unlike previous versions that were app-based, 5G is waiting for consumer hardware developments. We explore some of the potential use cases.
