Ownership and Usage - July 2023
2023 continues to be a challenging year for the home automation industry. As consumers pullback consumption in a variety of general merchandise categories and consumer electronics specifically, investment in connected home devices has slowed. Ownership of home automation devices remains steady at more than half of US households and consumers remain positive about the devices, citing their convenience and ease of use, however new categories of buyers have been slow to embrace the category. Device retirement has also become more common.
