NPD Connected Intelligence’s new Promotions Marketplace report is a monthly updated tracker providing insights into a wireless carrier and national distributor's promotional incentive practices. The report provides a detailed list of all promotional activities captured via NPD’s retail and online store visits conducted on a periodical basis. Captured promotions are categorized (i.e., service plan, accessories, device discounts, BOGOs, Gift Cards, etc.) and dated (start date/end date) for easy navigation and analysis purposes.
Broadband Marketplace - March 2020
The NPD Connected Intelligence Service's Marketplace Report provides a complete view of all mobile broadband service plans offered by the nationwide carriers. This report features each carrier's service plans on smartphones and mobile broadband products in separate tabs, which provides sectional navigation to postpaid and prepaid plans. The data is gathered from multiple sources (online and retail store surveys) during the last week of each month.
Mobile Device Marketplace - March 2020
As COVID-19 drops the demand for new phones, carriers are looking to make purchases a bit easier by waiving activation and restocking fees in addition to offering flexible return policies.
Samsung gave all carriers a significant boost to their 5G portfolios with the launch of the Galaxy S20 series. Notably, these are the first set of 5G devices available on MVNO Spectrum and Xfinity Mobile.
LG brings it dual screen technology to the V60 5G ThinQ; which is promoted for free at AT&T and T-Mobile with new-line activation.

The Evolving Ecosystem 2.0
The Evolving Ecosystem report looks at the strengths and weaknesses of the major consumer tech ecosystems. Today, these are driven by a consumer’s choice of smartphone, with either iOS and Android driving consumer tech behavior as they try to stay within the same ecosystem. But in the future, we expect voice-based interfaces to play a far more central role in the consumer/tech relationship.
