Vivint Expands 

Vivint Smart Home has introduced Vivint Smart Lighting, a new lighting solution that aims to enhance home safety, intelligence, and sustainability. The system comprises three main components: the Vivint Smart Light Switch, Smart Bulbs, and the Vivint Smart Lighting Bridge. The Smart Light Switch covers existing switches and allows for dimming through intuitive controls, voice commands, or the Vivint app. The Lighting Bridge ensures reliable wireless communication between Vivint Smart Lighting products and the Vivint Smart Hub, enabling seamless integration with the Vivint smart home system.

  • As a leader in smart home and managed security, Vivint is looking to add to the home automation offerings their subscribers have access to.  
  • With 1.9 million subscribers, Vivint has a large subscriber base to sell devices and services into and can capture notable market share in the device market. Vivint was acquired by NRG Energy last year.

Aqara Leans Into Matter 

Smart home device manufacturer Aqara has announced the release of its new product, the Aqara Door & Window Sensor P2. This sensor is designed to monitor the status of doors and windows in a smart home setup. The sensor is equipped with a button that can trigger specific actions or automation routines when pressed. Importantly, the sensor uses the latest Thread protocol making it Aqara’s first to be compatible with the Matter network standard.

  • Aqara is one of several smaller smart home companies embracing Matter early on. By championing the technology in its early stages, Aqara is developing brand recognition around Matter while establishing a reputation for cross platform compatibility and easy installation.
