SwitchBot Robot Vacuum Now Available For Pre-Order

SwitchBot’s latest invention, the S10 robot vacuum and mop, is available for pre-order on Kickstarter. The device costs $1,200 and features an internal roller brush mop that it cleans using a squeegee method as it vacuums. The S10 can also deliver water to other devices like SwitchBot’s new humidifier.  The early bird release on Kickstarter gets supporters $300 and it ships in March.

The Circana Take:

  • SwitchBot’s foray into robotic vacuums adds convenience for a premium price. The S10 seeks to make maintaining a robot vacuum virtually handsfree and is one step closer to an autonomous home robot.

IKEA Makes a Table Air Purifier

Ikea’s growing line of smart enabled furniture now includes a smart table. The Starkvind table has an air purifier built into a 22” tall side table. The filter can strain out PM2.5 matter from the air and can be controlled through Ikea’s smart home app. Though you don’t need Ikea’s Dirigera smart hub to operate Starkvind, doing so adds smart features like access to a digital analysis of your air quality.

The Circana Take:

  • Ikea continues to push into smart home, combining technology with their heritage home furniture offerings.  Starkvind is another component of this strategy - and a timely one as consumers prioritize health and wellness.
