A New Eufy Smart Lock
Eufy’s new Smart Lock, the Smart Lock E30, adds a lower cost option to Eufy’s deep line of Smart Lock and Video Smart Lock products. At $170, the E30 is less expensive than the S330 and E330 product lines. The Smart Lock E30’s big advantage is Matter compatibility which allows the device to be controlled by hubs from multiple brands. Aside from Matter, the E30 boasts low latency with its fingerprint scanner, identifying a user’s print in just 0.3 seconds.
The Circana Take:
- Eufy continues to invest in the growing smart lock market with multiple models ranging from $100 up to $270. Targeting a wide range of price segments will help the company position its devices to more consumers, from affluent home owners which make up the majority of smart lock owners to more budget minded renters and apartment dwellers.
Ikea Updates Smart Hub
Though support was announced two years ago, Ikea’s Dirigera hub can now be used as a bridge between the company’s many smart home devices and Matter-enabled systems. The change comes via a software update which builds upon an early beta of the functionality. The addition of Matter is a positive development for the Ikea line which features several custom integrations.
The Circana Take:
- Though Ikea is still gaining market share as a smart home device maker, the investment in Matter will help broaden the brand’s appeal. Ikea has taken a more cautious approach to Matter than other companies- but with most major Smart Home brands increasing Matter compatibility in their products, it is a sensible time to accelerate the transition.
