Promotions Marketplace -

NPD Connected Intelligence’s new Promotions Marketplace report is a monthly updated tracker providing insights into a wireless carrier and national distributor's promotional incentive practices. The report provides a detailed list of all promotional activities captured via NPD’s retail and online store visits conducted on a periodical basis. Captured promotions are categorized (i.e., service plan, accessories, device discounts, BOGOs, Gift Cards, etc.) and dated (start date/end date) for easy navigation and analysis purposes.

Service Plans Marketplace - March 2022

The NPD Connected Intelligence Service Plans Marketplace Report provides a complete view of all mobile broadband service plans offered by the nationwide postpaid and prepaid carriers. This report features each carrier's service plans on smartphones and mobile broadband products in separate tabs, which provides sectional navigation to postpaid and prepaid plans. The data is gathered from multiple sources (online and retail store surveys) during the last week of each month.

Mobile Device Marketplace - March 2022

NPD Connected Intelligence's Device Marketplace report provides a comprehensive view of the US mobile device landscape through the online tracking of mobile phones and other cellular-powered products such as tablets and mobile hotspots. The monthly updated report provides device spec and pricing information on the afforementioned products available through all major postpaid and prepaid service providers' digital channels as well as national distributor outlets (including Best Buy, Walmart, Target online stores) and manufacturer direct online store of Apple.

Smartphone Usage - March 2022

The smartphone usage report leverages an on-device metering solution to gain greater insight into how consumers are using their smartphones, looking at key category use such as social media, search, gaming and so on.

This version of the report features a re-designed interface to speed up the display of results, leveraging a simple drop-down menu solution similar to other Profile Reports. 

Ownership Report - March 2022

Despite a solid sales cycle over the holiday period – with Q4 2021 sales up 22% compared to the previous year – smartwatch ownership remains relatively flat at 31% of the consumer base. In other words, most new sales are coming from existing owners upgrading, in additional to just enough new consumers to balance out any possible churn in the segment. Is this due to smartwatches now being a mature segment that is possibly capped out of future growth? We do not believe so. Rather, we see two core challenges for the industry.

TV Ownership Trends -

The TV Ownership Trends Report quantifies the U.S. TV installed base, room location trends, and delves into what drives consumers to replace their TVs. The dashboards include a 9-year trend. These data provide a view of how the TV replacement cycle impacts the resulting installed base. The dashboards are updated quarterly. An analysis was also provided this wave as a value add to help summarize year end trends.

Device Usage Trends Report - March 2022

The Device Usage Trends Report tracks consumer’s usage of installed TVs, streaming media players, video game consoles, Smartphones, tablets and computers. There are two core metrics, overall device usage frequency and usage for streaming video. The analysis is published every other wave, and the accompanying excel data dashboard provides a more in-depth view of the trends every quarter.
